GCSSA is a not-for-profit organization which seeks, through cooperative effort, to help local churches achieve excellence in ministry. There is nothing more important and nothing closer to the heart of our precious Savior than teaching and discipling others. It is what our Lord Himself was dedicated to. Look at all the times in the Gospels that people approached Jesus by the term Rabbi, meaning teacher. And Jesus’s last recorded instruction to His followers was, "Teach whatever I have commanded you, making disciples." (see Matthew 28:18-20). Why was this so important to our Lord? It’s called multiplying our effectiveness. As the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, "The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others" (II Timothy 2:2). Our ministry does not end when we teach & disciple others. Each person we teach to grow in Christ is able to disciple other people. The chain is endless. For more than 60 years, GCSSA has had as its sole purpose helping people teach and disciple others. We exist for the empowerment of teaching & discipleship in today’s church. GCSSA has provided annual training events throughout Chicagoland, including the Midwest Teaching and Discipleship Convention, Fall Institute on Creative Teaching & Discipleship, and Convención Anual de Adiestramiento Congregacional (conducted entirely in Spanish). Each event is designed with the following goals in mind:
As a result of recent world events, people are more ready to learn about Jesus than ever. We need to help those teaching & discipling be prepared to help others learn about our Lord. |
