Making Your Children’s Ministry the Best Hour of Every Kid’s Week
Sue Miller is the
face of Children’s Ministry around the world for many. Her passion to
reach unchurched children and grow them into fully devoted followers of
Christ is contagious. She travels extensively nationally and
internationally motivating and inspiring church leaders and volunteers to
raise the value of building effective ministries for kids. Sue was
instrumental in growing Promiseland into a cutting edge, contemporary
children’s ministry. The story of how all that happened is told in her
book, Making Your Children’s Ministry the Best Hour of Every Kid’s
Week.
Session One: If Kids Could
Choose....
If kids could drive, what kind of
children's ministry would they want to come to on Sunday morning? Sue will
help us see a compelling vision for our ministries to reach kids.
Session Two: Faith Skills Every Child Needs
In this session Sue will talk about how we can continue to turn
out world changers and equip them with the faith skills they need as they
leave our ministries.
Session Three: How to Teach So Kids Will Listen
Learn ideas that will help bring any Bible story to life for
kids.
Session Four: From Ordinary to Extraordinary
How do you continue to grow as a volunteer so that your passion
for serving kids increases every year? Sue will challenge each of us to
grow in our serving opportunities.
Discipling Youth Holistically
Phil Jackson’s most
recent ministry is working with the Evangelical Covenant Church, Lawndale
Community Church, and youth and adults from the North Lawndale community
to plant the first hip hop church on the west side of Chicago- The House
Covenant Church. He has served full-time in Urban Youth Ministry in the
local church for over two decades. Phil speaks to thousands of youth
across the country every year at camps, schools, and churches. He trains
and consults youth leaders in urban communities across the country. Phil
is co-author of the book, The Hip Hop Church.
Session 1: The Youth Culture of the 21st Century
Generation X, Y, Z, the Millenials, the Next-Net Generation.
These are the young people who are populating our churches and trying to
live for Christ in a post-modern and hip-hop culture. In this session you
will learn about the hip-hop and post-modern culture and how to relate to
young people in their terms.
Session 2: Raising Up a
Generation for a New Village
Adults are to prepare the new generation of young people to
deal with systemic issues resulting from living as Christ-followers in a
post-modern society. Come learn issues facing youth today and how you can
help.
Session 3: Engaging Youth With
Christ and the Church
18 year olds are leaving the church in record numbers because
they have not been included as active participants in the Christian
community. You will learn how to make Christ a real part of the lives of
young people and how to include them as part of the ENTIRE church
community, not just the youth group.
Session 4: Everyone a Mentor
Parents and youth leaders serve as mentors to young people. But
so does every adult. Even youth themselves should be discipling each
other. Come learn not only how to mentor youth but how to create small
group and interactive opportunities for everyone that will lead to
discipleship.
Adult Sunday School or Small Groups? Yes!

Carl George is
synonymous with the MetaChurch movement and the adult small group ministry
in the church of the 21st century. After leading the Charles E. Fuller
Institute in Pasadena, California for seventeen years, Carl now consults with and
coaches pastors who want their churches to be healthy and to develop
effective spiritual leaders. Carl George’s Nine Facets of the Effective
Small Group Leader DVD series and Nine Keys to Effective Small
Group Leadership book are classics in the small group training field.
Session 1: The Answer is Both Sunday Schools And Small Groups . . .
Renew your adult discipleship by using either or both Sunday
School classes and small groups. In this session you will learn how to
manage change – how to do new things and still make everyone happy!
Session 2: Clarifying Expectations
of Small Group Leaders
You can help new small group leaders,
helpers, and apprentice leaders by showing them what they need to do and
then asking them to commit to doing it.
Session 3: Making Adult Group
Members into Disciples
You can shape the spiritual lives of
those in your group if you do this one thing consistently and prayerfully.
Hint: it’s not about what you tell them.
Session 4: Take Home a New Set of
Skills You Can Use This Week
Transferable concepts are tools for
the mind and heart. Here is how you can institute and lead a small group
ministry that will transform attitudes and behavior from now on –
guaranteed.
