Working hard to help teachers and disciple-makers achieve God's call in their lives.

GCSSA is committed to:

  • Encouraging their work for Christ
  • Helping them understand God's Word, how to study it, and how to prepare to teach it
  • Helping them develop key ministry skills which will help achieve discipleship ministry goals
  • Helping them learn the newest ministry approaches to helping others grow spiritually

Midwest Teaching & Discipleship Convention

This two-day convention is held each year in early March. National speakers such as Tony Evans, James McDonald, and Crawford Loritts encourage teachers and disciple-makers in their ministries. The leading ministry authorities from throughout the country facilitate training seminars, workshops, and teaching demos to help teachers become more effective. The major ministry resource organizations share the latest resources and ideas for discipleship ministries with teachers, disciple-makers, and ministry leaders. It is the highlight of the ministry year.

Fall Institute on Creative Teaching & Discipleship

The ministry year begins with the Fall Institute on Creative Teaching & Discipleship in September, a one-day conference focused on the annual ministry theme. Teachers and disciplers are given in-depth training on each specific age level.

Hispanic Church Teaching Ministries Convention

Approximately one in eight people in the United States is Hispanic. Since Hispanic church discipleship ministries are unique in culture, custom, and language, GCSSA supports teaching and discipling in the Hispanic church through an annual Hispanic Church Teaching Ministries Convention held in Spanish at Moody Bible Institute every October.

Networking Groups

The goal of GCSSA is for teaching and discipleship to be effective in the local church and for people to lead lives of faith in Christ. There are no "lone rangers" in disciple-making. That is why a major ministry of GCSSA is the networking that takes place between teachers and disciplers through luncheon groups, networking sessions at conventions, and (coming this fall) online message boards.
